Very sweary today, I do apologies …. It’s passion 😆

Yesterday I went on one of those walks where everything felt a little bit magical.

It was like the air itself was whispering stories, it took me by surprise as it was a hurried dog walk. I soon slowed down to listen.

Half way round my walk a beautiful pigeon landed near me, straight away my minds eye dressed him in a shiny golden helmet, with a tiny saddle on his back, as if he were ready to carry a small magical rider from another world.

Years ago, I would occasionally paint spirit guides like this. They would step forward on my canvases as messengers from forgotten lands, wearing sacred armour made of gold. I even used real gold leaf to make them shine 🌟

Writing this I realise I found all of my old paintings again last week! Goosebumps 🌟

This feels like some of my older magic has found me again, it is like seeing an old friend 💜

🕯️ Witches Drawing A Line 🕯️ Some techniques.

🦶To work with the heavy energetics, we can begin with the body. Boundary becomes posture. Spine long, feet connected to the ground. No pushing away, no spiritual bypass, just the quiet internal naming: I am aware of this. It stops here.
The body understands containment even when the mind is overwhelmed.

💡 We practice keeping one toe in the light. A small, consistent ritual of light, a candle, a breath, a song, a prayer, a drawing. This is how we stay human inside the weight, without collapsing or floating away.

✍️ We draw lines without explanation. Literally or imaginatively, a single mark that says witnessed. No story attached. No justification required. Just acknowledgment, containment, and clarity. When words feel too thin or too sharp, the line holds.

⭕️ We keep the light together. Candles matter more when they are shared. Collective witnessing moves suffering out of isolation and into meaning, even when there is no resolution yet. We are not fixing the pain, we are refusing to let it disappear unseen.

😴 We rest. Rest is not avoidance, it is preservation. In heavy awareness, rest becomes resistance. Small, intentional pauses tell the nervous system: I am allowed to remain intact.

This is how we can stand grown. This is how we project knowing without harm. This is how we hold pain, light, hope, and honesty at the same time.

This text is offered as grounding, witness, and boundary, not as instruction for harm, coercion, or bypassing lived reality. These are some techniques which are symbolic, embodied, and non-violent practices meant to support nervous systems, clarity, and collective care during heavy times.

Take what resonates. Leave what does not. Move at your own pace.
Nothing here asks you to push beyond your capacity or override your own discernment.

“Drawing a line” in this context means awareness, posture, and presence, naming what is seen and choosing where it ends. This work is about staying intact, connected, and humane, even in the face of unfairness and suffering.

There is a lot of fear around the pentagram which I feel comes from misunderstanding and pop-culture stereotypes, so here is alittle bit about it.

The pentagram is an ancient spiritual symbol that existed long before modern misconceptions.

Spiritually, it represents balance, protection, and harmony. Each of its five points symbolizes one of the elements , earth, air, fire, water, and spirit, working together as one. The circle representing protection and connection. It can also be seen as the star being a soul and the circle being protection, there is also meant to be a link to the skies.

When upright, the pentagram traditionally represents spirit guiding the physical world, personal empowerment, and connection to nature. It has been used for thousands of years across many cultures, including ancient Greece, early Christianity, and earth-based spiritual paths.

Like many symbols, its meaning depends on intention and context. It is not inherently negative or harmful. Fear often comes from misunderstanding, not history.

For many people today, the pentagram is a symbol of peace, balance, and spiritual protection.

They love him, he lived indoors until recently. I fell in love with him in a local shop and my husband went back and bought him one winters day maybe 6/7 years ago !

❄️ Today’s snow and ice reminded me of the rune Isa (ᛁ) .

Isa is the rune of ice in the Elder Futhark, symbolising stillness, pause, restraint, and endurance. It represents a moment when movement is dangerous and survival depends on patience, clarity, and self-control rather than action.

Historically, Isa reflects the lived reality of icy northern landscapes, beautiful, slippery, and deadly. Where stopping, waiting, or moving with extreme care was often the wisest choice. It is not a rune of emotion or fate, but of focused awareness and suspended motion, a necessary pause before change can occur.

The runic alphabets are writing systems used by the ancient Germanic peoples, and there are three main historical ones. The Elder Futhark (c. 150–800 CE) has 24 runes and is the oldest and most widespread, including Isa. The Younger Futhark (c. 800–1100 CE), used in Viking-Age Scandinavia, was reduced to 16 runes and appears in long-branch and short-twig forms. The Anglo-Saxon Futhorc (c. 400–1100 CE) expanded the system to 26–33 runes to suit Old English sounds. Later medieval and regional variants exist, but these three are the core historical runic alphabets.

Have you ever been told that seeing a robin means a loved one in spirit is near?

This belief doesn’t come from nowhere. It’s woven through layers of folklore, spirituality, and lived experiences, especially here in the UK and across Northern Europe. I love this bold message bringers, turning up always as and when they need to.

In older British and Celtic traditions, robins were seen as sacred birds. Their boldness around humans, their habit of appearing suddenly and close, and their presence in quiet, liminal moments linked them to the Otherworld. Birds were believed to move easily between realms, and the robin became known as a gentle messenger between worlds.

Later, Christian folklore added another layer. A story tells of the robin staining its breast red while trying to ease Christ’s suffering, connecting the bird with compassion, sacrifice, and eternal life.

However, it was during the Victorian era, when death and mourning were deeply ritualised, that the idea truly took root that the robin as a visiting loved one. Robins then started to appear on memorial art, grave markers, and Christmas cards, slowly becoming a symbol of reassurance rather than loss.

This is where the phrase many still hold today comes from:
“When robins appear, loved ones are near.”

Perhaps the reason it endures is simple. Robins don’t feel like absence. They feel like presence. They arrive softly, with a loudness which is felt, often at emotional moments, and bring comfort rather than fear.

Folklore may give us the story, but meaning is always personal. Sometimes a robin is just a robin. And sometimes… it’s a hello.

I did a reading for myself last night.

It spoke of visions, of having visions that embody your dreams, your hopes, your desires. Of how to connect with them, how your soul can awaken them, and how to take action by walking toward them.

I don’t yet have exact words for my vision. There are no concrete plans written down.
But I have the knowing.
The senses.
The feelings.

As I step forward in this space, with all of you, I meet my own waves daily. One of the biggest has been the fear of being burned for sharing, and the ever-present shadow of imposter syndrome.

The being burned part, if I’m honest, I’ve worked with deeply. I no longer fear the flames as I once did, because I know now, I am the fire.

But imposter syndrome… that one still rears its head.

I speak from honesty, from the deepest part of my soul. Each post begins as a vision, something I see or feel, and then I simply record it, type it, share it.

Last night I wobbled.

How can I do this?
How can I bring myself deeper into this circle?
How can I support this space?
Am I capable?

How do I anchor a vision that lives fully in knowing, but not yet on paper?

And then, this morning, there was a knock at my door.

A gift, delivered by a friend I met in this space, someone I’m sure I’ve known for lifetimes, as I feel with so many of you here.

I asked for a vision, for something to anchor to and the universe answered, delivered by a witch, a new besom.

I often don’t feel worthy of all this love, of being seen. You are all showing me how to hold it. This space is a two-way street, it is not all me giving or holding, you are holding me, you are healing me.

I have never known or experienced a space like this.

Dear friend, thank you for answering my prayers today.
Dear Coven, we are much, much stronger together, I have spent a lifetime looking for you, thank you for looking for me too.

I’ll meet you all in the skies. Happy tears and vision cleared 💜

It’s okay if you don’t know the Celtic calendar, all the folklore, what the moon is doing at every moment, what planet is in the microwave, when the solstices are, what every tree is called, or every tarot card inside out. I certainly don’t.

You are the most important part of your craft, you. Let others inspire you, but don’t compare yourself. If something sparks your interest, work with it 💜

🌲 January feels like a quiet threshold. 🌲

A time that naturally invites rest, reflection, and listening, even as the world asks us to rush forward. I honour this month as one of softness rather than force.

And yet, I don’t mind the collective page-turning that arrives with a new year. There is comfort in beginning together. Letting go, choosing a fresh mindset, and allowing space for renewal often feels easier when it’s shared. There is a kinship in this moment that many souls are searching for.

Perhaps January is both, a time to turn inward, and a time to turn the page together.

✨ First-Footing, a New Years Eve Folklore from Scotland ✨

I have been tiptoeing around folklore recently and was reminded of this tradition which I felt nudged to share.

In Scotland, one of the traditional ways you may see the New Year begin, as depicted by folklore and legend is not with fireworks, but with a footstep.

This tradition, known as First-Footing, comes from Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve). It’s believed that the first person to cross your threshold after midnight determines your household’s luck for the entire year.

Folklore suggests that the ideal first footer is traditionally a dark haired male not already living in your house, and he is to come baring gifts such as coal, bread , whiskey or money.

So why dark-haired? This belief dates back to Viking times, when fair-haired strangers symbolized danger and invasion. A dark-haired visitor represented peace, safety, and good fortune.

The Gifts & Their Meaning? Well, coal or wood could symbolise warmth, protection and survival. Bread, abundance and no hunger. Whisky, hospitality and community. Coins, prosperity and stability.

The first footer enters through the front door, offers the gift, shares a drink, and leaves—allowing the new year’s luck to settle into the home. It is threshold magic, a ritual to encourage good fate, it reflects a deep belief that who we welcome in shapes what follows. Think about that.

Today, the rules are softer, but the meaning remains:
✨ Invite in warmth
✨ Choose intention
✨ Begin the year with connection

As a modern day witch, who honours the old and works with the new, I want to put my spin on this in true Amy style.

Don’t start the year by letting an arsehole through your door🚪, let a loved one in ❤️.

⭐️ One of my biggest witchy tips is this: don’t overcomplicate your practice.

When it becomes too heavy, it’s harder to hold, harder to enjoy, harder to trust, and burnout comes quickly.

I want to say here, while I have your attention, how normal and natural it is for your relationship with your practice and your magic to change and evolve. Mine these days is very simple, often just a nod of knowing, with the occasional table filled with candles.

Your practice is meant to be fluid. It’s meant to work with where you are each day. Sometimes it holds space for you; other times, you hold space for it.

So let’s talk about the Witch’s Nod, a technique I’ve developed, teach, want to share. It allows narratives to shift, from seeing your connection as something separate, to remembering it as something that has always been with you.

All that is around you is within you, and all that is within you is around you. The Witch’s Nod allows your knowing to be held and supported, and for magic to dance wildly in plain sight. I’m currently manifesting writing my book, so here I’ll say (with a nod), “My book goes into this more.”

Rather than pushing for signs, signals, and nudges, begin embracing them differently when they arrive. Notice them with a nod, notice the way you sensing things with a nod, like that that you would an old and beloved friend.

Trust me, once you do, they will start showing up differently. They’ll arrive in ways you never imagined, yet somehow always knew.

The birds will begin speaking in words.
The walls and floors will share their memories.
Loved ones in spirit will laugh with you again.
And you will start walking with your wings lifted.

Just start nodding, with knowing, at all the magic in and around you.

It’s one of the biggest keys.

Christmas Eve has long been known as a thin-veil night.
Across Northern, Slavic, Baltic, and Alpine traditions, this was a time when ancestors, spirits, and unseen helpers drew close. Homes were kept quiet, candles were lit, and food was left out in welcome.

Before it was Christmas, it was midwinter, the darkest night, where endings soften and something new begins.
Tonight is for listening, blessing the home, and honoring those who walked before us.

🕯️ Simple Christmas Eve Offering & Blessing

You’ll need:

One candle (white or gold)

A small plate of food (bread, sweets, fruit, or cookies)

A drink (water, milk, wine, or tea)

How to do it:

After sunset, light the candle in a quiet space.

Place the food and drink beside it.

Say (or adapt):
“To my ancestors, known and unknown,
and to the gentle spirits who watch over this home —
you are welcome, you are remembered.”

Sit quietly for a moment. No phone. No rush.

Leave the offering overnight. Return it to the earth the next day.

This is not about belief — it’s about remembrance, gratitude, and hospitality.
